Can you give us a teaser of your talk?

The Blockchain Led 10 Trillion $ Disruptive Innovation opportunity: The media has been portrating the crypto space as one that is going through a deep winter. But the real promise of Blockchain lies in its ability to transform the lives of 3 billion people who live close to the bottom of the Pyramid.

In this talk Karthik Iyer will use his decade of experience in Blokchain and Peer to Peer strategies to describe how startups will unlock the 10 trillion $ opportunity in the Asian and African region over the next decade using DLT's

Tell us about what you are working on right now.

Karthik Iyer is the ambassador of the P2P-Foundation. His research is on new economic models around P2P and decentralization. He is focused on areas like asset tokenization, econometrics, scalable dlt infrastructures etc

What is your background?

Karthik Iyer is the founder and CEO of BlockchainMonk, Asias first end-to end Blockchain and Crypto Research Think Tank. He was recently featured in the top 200 fintech influencers in Asia.

He has been widely recognized for his strengths in deploying next-gen distributed ledgers, smart contracts and other crypto assets. He is an ambassadors of the P2P foundation  the worlds largest think tank on the decentralization revolution. He has mentored dozens of blockchain, DAO and AI firms around the world and has built, scaled and deployed cutting-edge fintech solutions for fortune 100 companies. He is regularly featured in major media sites such as The Economic Times, Forbes. The Economist as well as popular TV series “The Future of Money”."

He holds close to half dozen degrees in technology, research and management from leading schools in Europe and Asia like KTH in Sweden, BI Norwegian Business School in Norway and Fudan University in China. He has over a decade of experience working for large technology firms such as Red Hat, Novell and Sun Microsystems and has successfully ran various hi-tech ventures in the past.

What should we look out for in the next 5 years?

Asset tokenization will prove disruptive in various fields. We are already seeing a wide range of assets that are being tokenized in the blockchain such as art, architecture, collectables etc. Fractional ownership and liquidity will transform the way people understand wealth in various countriies

Who is doing good work in your field?

I find sentinel chain exciting, they put cattle contracts in the blockchain and enable farmers to apply for loans through collateralizing their cattle.

How do you hope Tulip will be different / better?

I hear that the tulip conference is not about volume but quality. I was told that the event focuses on unravelling deeper ideas and focuses on the why instead of the nuts and bolts which most tech conferences cover
