Professor Wulf Kaal
Please tell us about your background and how you got into this field?
I am a Ph.D. trained Professor and a leading expert at the intersection of law, business, and technology. My research focuses on innovation, technology, emerging technology applications, smart contracts, initial coin offerings, hedge funds, and dynamic regulatory methods. Before entering the academy, I was associated with Cravath, Swain & Moore LLP, in New York, and Goldman Sachs in London, UK. Several years ago I started publishing on decentralized systems which lead to the founding of the Semada Research Institute.
In the next five years, what are the most important things to keep and eye on in your field? Why?
Overcoming the blockchain trilemma (scale, security, decentralization) is key and finding use cases for decentralization protocols. The community also needs SLUG: Stability protocols, Liquidity protocols, Utility solutions (use cases) and blockchain govenance. Without these solutions, decentralization protocols cannot evolve.
Who (person or company) do you feel is doing exciting stuff in your field? Why?
Semada Research Institute is creating the much-needed research and protocols for the community via SLUG: Stability protocols, Liquidity protocols, Utility solutions (use cases) and blockchain govenance.
How do you hope Tulip Conference will be better than your typical event/conference? Why?
I hope we will see more genuine talks with genuine new ideas.
